There’s nothing better than spending the day out on the Oregon Coast! Join Nancy and Amber out on a 4.0-mile loop trail near Florence, Oregon. Hobbit Beach is a captivating location that combines a dense Pacific Northwest woodland populated by Sitka spruce trees with a sandy beach that abruptly meets the crashing waves of the powerful Pacific Ocean. Come check out some sick views and that sweet salty smell of the sea! Join Scout to hike the 4.4 mile Mossy Maple Trail and explore the Thurston Hills Natural Area!
If you need extra layers or hiking boots you can rent these from the Outdoor Program Barn Monday-Friday 12pm-5pm. You can call and reserve gear at the rental barn if needed (541) - 346-4371.

Mandatory Pre-Trip: May 4th, 2:00pm at Outdoor Program Rental Barn
Cost: $1 (bring to the pre-trip meeting to reserve your spot) for gas*. Additional costs to consider: packed lunch, hiking boots/hiking clothes from the rental barn as needed.
*Must be a student at the UO to participate, no refunds once you have put a gas deposit down for trip.

Join the Outdoor Program and Student Sustainability Center for a climate resiliency themed bike ride. The ride will be along the riverfront bike path and include a brief break to discuss climate anxiety and exercise mindfulness. Plan to meet at the Outdoor Program in the EMU (008) Monday May 8th at 5PM, and bring water and a helmet if you have one!

Have the material and psychic conditions of capitalist patriarchy prevented you from being the confident, nerdy bicycle mechanic you would love to be? Calling femmes, women, trans, non-binary, and other gender diverse humans wanting to learn (or learn more) about the joys of bicycle maintenance!!! FTW (Femmes/Trans/Women) Bike School Spring ‘23 will be happening at the Bike Program weeks 3-8, on Mondays from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This six-week course covers topics including fixing flats, wheel hub overhauls, wheel truing, brake adjustments, drivetrains, and derailleurs. Reach out to bikes@uoregon.edu if you have any questions. The course is $65 and scholarships are available. Call 541-346-6092 or come into the Bike Program to sign-up!
5:30–7:30 p.m.
Learn the joy of fixing your own bicycle with in-depth instruction from Bike Program mechanics. This six-session course will teach you to repair and maintain a standard road, mountain, or commuter bike including lessons on flat fixes, hub overhauls, wheel truing, bottom brackets, brakes, drivetrains, and derailleurs. This class does not cover hydraulic or electric systems. Despite this limitation, all bikes are welcome. This course goes from weeks 4-9 on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm. It starts April 25th and ends May 30th. The cost is $65. Call the Bike Program to sign-up, 541-346-6092.

Want to get more involved with the Outdoor Program and initiate your own trips? Come to our Trip Initiator Clinic and learn the ins and outs of our Common Adventure program. In this session, we will be going over how to plan and initiate your own trip as well as our Common Adventure philosophy and liability. Missed the first clinic? Come to this one!

Practice your kayaking moves in the Rec Center pool, and meet other kayakers! Attend one, two, or all of the sessions! Wednesdays, 7pm-8:30pm. Call the OP to pay and reserve your spot - SPACE IS LIMITED! 541-346-4371. $6 with your own boat, $10 if you want to use one of our kayaks.

Join Roxanne for a weekend exploring the wonders of the Oregon Coast and making friends! You will see: Thor's Well, Cape Perpetua, Neahkahnie Mountain Loop Trail (6 miles), Haystack Rock and more! You will spend Saturday night camping at Nehalem Bay State Park.

Cost: $37 for gas and campsite fee. Other costs to consider include food and any camping gear you will need such as a tent, sleeping bag, clothes, etc.

Join Jess and head to Portland for a sunset paddle + fun at the Willam-Jam Paddle! This is a Benefit Concert for the Mosquito Fleet and will feature a sunset paddle, bands, pizza, screen printing, banner painting and more!

Cost: $30 total (bring to the pre-trip meeting to reserve your spot!) This $30 covers gas and equipment. ($10-15 kayak rental from OP rental barn). Additional costs to consider: sliding scale entry fee $10-$50.
